Sorry, being a working girl now I do not have time to update you on a daily basis as to what I'm getting up to, plus you will probably start to get bored, so from now on, unless I am doing something really exciting, I'll be giving you weekly summaries!
So I have worked 9-5 everyday this week and I am enjoying it. It is still quiet at the moment in terms of work load and just getting into the swing of things, but have been up to more this week, watching in on labs and testing and having inductions so that I can actually go into the labs and use the equipment to run tests and training. One of the guys, James, is currently in the middle of testing (2km and 20km time trial and graded maximal test) and training (wingate sprints) for his study, so have been in the labs with him watching and helping out a bit. I have really enjoyed getting into the labs this week and it still amazes me the advancement in equipment they have here compared to what we use in Bath.
Over the week I have gradually been introduced to more people and started to get to know others better. This has happened in the office and labs, where people would introduce me, or others would come over or at lunch (we usually lunch as a big group). Everyone has been very friendly though and have made it easy for me to settle in here at ISEAL.
I haven't really been up to much in the evenings because by the time I've made the hour and a half trek home from work it is dark and cold and I'm pretty tired. So I just chill out, have dinner, watch Big Brother Australia with Sue and Hannah and have an early night (exciting I know!). Tonight I have pretty much done the same, with the addition of some bubbly to celebrate the night before Hannah's formal (equivalent to prom), but who needs an excuse for a drink!
