Kuala Lumpar Day 2 - Saturday 20th July 2013

So today me, Sam, Amy, Margaux, Michael and Andy (had just arrived and is also staying at the Reggae Mansion) headed to the Batu Caves. To get to the caves we had to get a train to KL sentral and then a 30 minute train to the caves, which cost a total of 2.30 ringett (the equivalent to 50p!!! You can't even go 100m on the tube for that price!).

The caves were beautiful, with Hindu statues and shrines both at the bottom of the caves and in the main Batu Cave. To reach the main cave we had to climb 272 really steep steps in 33° heat (talk about breaking a sweat!) while also being aware of the hundreds of monkeys (a famous feature of the cave) who liked 3 things - sex, fighting and stealing!

On the train back, we stopped off and ended up going on a bit of a trek trying to find the Botanical Garden. The walk was quite nice, other than it being so hot, because we got to see more including national mosque (we didn't go in, just observed from the outside). When we eventually found the garden, which reminded me a bit of Central Park, we chilled there for a bit in the shade to have a rest, before we headed back to the hostel to nap before a night out. Also by this point we recruited Jem to the group who we met at the Batu Caves and discovered was also staying in our hostel.

So tonight we decided we would go to Reggae Bar and then try and go to Zouk Club - the biggest club in Malaysia. Me, Andy and Amy started early in the hostel bar for happy hour and 2 for 1 cocktails, before heading up to the rooftop bar with everyone for buckets of vodka!

By the time we hit Reggae Bar there was a massive group of us as we were recruiting people as they walked past us in reception at the hostel. We had such a good night and I dread to think how much vodka we got through. The drinks were being poured so strong it got to the point where it was questionable if they were even putting any mixer in the vodka! At 1 o'clock a group of drunks decided to jump in taxis to go to Zouks. We were a bit skeptical whether the boys would get in because they all had shorts on but thought we'd try anyway. They were given a no of which we didn't even try and argue so we got back in a taxi and headed back to the hostel. Still, what a night and I'm sure the majority of us aren't going to be feeling too fresh tomorrow!!!
